From Survivor to Founder
Share
My name is Sam Primeaux, and I’m here not just as a survivor of a spinal cord injury — but as someone who refused to accept the limits placed on me.
This is my journey of resilience, discovery, and purpose.
The Accident
06/22/2017: The Day Everything Changed
At 17,
my world flipped in an instant. I was riding my motorcycle home on a rainy evening when a truck swerved across my lane. I slid, collided with the truck, and was thrown into the air.
The impact shattered two vertebrae, leaving me paralyzed from the chest down.
Doctors told me I’d never walk again. I wouldn't accept it.
That was their prognosis — but it wasn’t my destiny.
The Mental Battle
Fighting My Mind First
I Spiraled
into a dark place. When my insurance stopped physical therapy, I wasn’t just battling my body — I was battling my mind.
That’s when I met Nathan, a paralyzed bodybuilder who became my mentor. He taught me about fitness, nutrition, and spinal cord injuries — but most importantly, he told me:
“When someone say's "You Can't" they are showing you THEIR limits. Not Yours! Only you can define your limits. The doctors don’t know your willpower. Your therapists don’t know your heart.”
That message saved my life. It awoke my InnerAnimal.
The Hidden Struggles
The Struggles No One Sees
One of the hardest things about my injury was adapting to daily life — especially using the bathroom.
Living with a neurogenic bladder brought physical and mental battles I never expected. But through this, I learned the importance of accessible medical products and innovations, and I thank those creating tools that give people like me the chance to truly live again.
The Comeback
Refusing to Stay Down
I committed
to my recovery. I dove into fitness, research, and pushing my limits. Then I discovered stem cell therapy.
Thanks to my community, we raised the funds for this treatment.
Six months after the procedure, while on a leg extension machine in the gym, my legs kicked out. Not passively — I moved them.
It was the first sign my body was listening to my will!
Building a Movement
InnerAnimal Was Born
That moment
lit a fire in me. I realized my fight wasn’t just for me — it was for anyone who’s ever been told they can’t.
That’s why I created InnerAnimal. It’s more than a brand — it’s a belief.
Inside all of us is a raw, primal, resilient spirit capable of overcoming anything.
We just have to unleash it.
Giving Back with Meauxbility
Creating Change Together
Through
this journey, I’ve been blessed to inspire others — and be inspired in return.
That’s why I founded Meauxbility, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting spinal cord injury survivors with access to resources like therapy, equipment, and medical treatments.
Because better healthcare should be accessible to everyone.
We believe with More Options, opens opportunity for change. More Access levels the playing field. Thats how you unlock More Life.
We only get one, so live it!
